An IT Solutions Partner requested Traversa’s expertise and services for the implementation of Aruba ClearPass at a large University.
Project Request:
A large University was wanting to better secure network access for wired connections within their campus dorms by implementing Aruba ClearPass. The solution would securely allow students to self-register their devices using the WLAN captive portal.
Traversa implemented Aruba ClearPass for the wired connections in the dorms using MAC authentication on student devices (laptops, iPhone, gaming consoles, tablets, etc.). The University also wanted to use the WLAN guest portal to register the devices with the ability for them to view all the connected devices (wireless and wired) with authentication of only registered & authorized devices.
Our engineers consulted on the design and configuration of the ClearPass solution. A ClearPass Proof of Concept (POC) was performed with selected switch models testing against appropriate client devices. The POC proved the solution successful for the University. Traversa concluded the project by providing knowledge transfer to enable the University to self-deploy ClearPass to their remaining switches throughout the University’s dorms. All work performed by Traversa throughout this project was conducted remotely.
A West Coast Medical Center and Emergency Room had to refresh their network based on equipment life-cycles and given their existing wireless network struggled to adequately support the increasing number of medical wireless devices. The Customer’s goal in updating their network was to take advantage of the advanced features/technologies and security available on the new switches and to update their wireless to better supports today’s density of wireless devices in hospitals.
Traversa was brought into this project by our National Channel Partner to conduct a complete switch and wireless refresh for their Healthcare Customer. Traversa developed a wireless network design to meet the Customer’s requirements after reviewing the Customer’s existing environment. Traversa remotely deployed 225+ Aruba AP-515 access points and a redundant pair of Aruba 7200 series wireless controllers, with the onsite support of a local contracting team to handle cut overs. All of the Customer’s existing APs were left intact, where additional cabling was provided for the new AP devices to limit network downtime for this critical healthcare environment.
In addition, Traversa remotely staged, configured and deployed a new wired solution that consisted of 65+ Aruba Series Switches to complete the Customer’s updated network infrastructure. Once the equipment was physically installed, Traversa remotely turned on and tested the equipment. The Customer was provided Day One Support, knowledge transfer, and documentation. The network refresh delivered by Traversa provided the Customer with access to a high-performing IT infrastructure necessary for the ER and Medical Center to achieve optimal network performance.
One of the top five largest school districts in Texas, with over 70 campuses and 100,000+ students, released an RFP to replace their old Cisco LAN equipment as it was near end-of-life. Traversa with an HP Channel Partner successful won the RFP. Given the size of the District, planning and logistics was key factor in a successful project without interfering with the student’s learning.
Traversa reviewed the current network design against best practices to finalize the network design for the new HP switching infrastructure. The new switches were then configured, staged, and tested at the Integration Facility prior to being delivered to each school. Traversa came onsite, implemented and tested the new switching equipment across all the District’s schools and administrative buildings. Traversa provided the District with Day One Support, knowledge transfer and documentation for their new HP network infrastructure as a final step in our service delivery process. This network upgrade was performed within the School District’s tight time frame, as well as within budget.
A State customer with over 900 State Agency sites needed to implement a simple, secure and scalable SD-WAN/SD-Branch solution across the southern State.
Aruba and a local Channel Partner acquired Traversa’s services given our technical knowledge and expertise in deploying SD-WAN/SD-Branch solutions. Our engineers not only implemented the solutions but developed and documented a repeatable process for deploying Aruba Central SD-WAN/SD-Branch across the State.
Aruba engaged Traversa to review the Customer’s requirements, lead the design and implementation, and provide training and oversight to the Customer’s IT staff and Channel Partner on Aruba Central/SD-Branch/ClearPass with Zero Touch Provisioning. The SD-WAN/SD-Branch Deployment material Traversa developed for the Customer and local Channel Partner is being utilized as a guideline for deploying Aruba Central SD-WAN/SD-Branch across additional locations.
A national retailer needed to update their existing firewall using FortiGate VM and FortiAnalyzer VM. The new firewall solution brought the customer up to a production-quality level utilizing industry defined best practices.
Traversa was requested by a National Channel Partner to perform a remote firewall implementation for a large national retail chain. The project consisted of design, configuration, integration into the existing cloud architecture, migration support, and documentation of the new solution. The firewall was built in Microsoft Azure Cloud and migrated across the Customer’s non-production sites. The design used the current 2000B FortiAnalyzer VM as the base configuration, so FortiAnalyzer could support over 350 retail stores’ FortiGates.
This remote cloud-based FortiGate implementation was completed within 4 weeks, and the customer was provided documentation and knowledge transfer that explained the technologies used during implementation, as well as best practices in regard to the day-to-day management of the Azure Cloud Firewall solution.
A National Channel Partner has a Midwestern Financial Institution customer who was looking to replace their current HA firewalls (Active/Passive) with larger Palo Alto firewalls to support Active/Active across their HQ and DR Sites.
The new solution consisted of remotely implementing a PA 3320 at the Customer’s headquarters and a PA 3320 at the DR Site. Traversa also implemented Panorama to manage the new Palo Alto firewalls with the primary task of pushing rule sets and objects to the new firewalls, which consisted of over 50 NAT statements and 125+ rules.
The remote firewall implementation was completed by Traversa within the agreed upon time frame concluding with the delivery of documentation and knowledge transfer of the new Palo Alto solution. Traversa also provided the Customer with specific instructions on the use of Panorama as a centralized management system.
